Lack of Political Will Comes with an $800K Price Tag

Closing the Military Prison in Guantanamo Bay has been a consistent demand from counterterrrorism experts, human rights defenders and rule of law advocates. Unfortunately, the US government has found neither the wisdom nor the political will to undo a mistake. It's unlikely, but perhaps a cost analysis will help stimulate new debate regarding the closure of Gitmo. Especially since the cost to keep the military prison running is $800,000 per year. Ouch.
